Cersaie 2024 highlights: key moments, products and innovations

In September, we were thrilled to attend the 41st edition of Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings, held in Bologna, Italy. With over 600 exhibitors from 25 countries and more than 95,000 visitors over five days, the exhibition offered an invaluable opportunity to connect with industry leaders, attend informative conferences and discover the latest collections from our prestigious brands including Portobello, Atlas Concorde, Ariostea, Cotto D’este and more.

Among the trends this year, we explored the increasing demand of a natural wood-look effect- celebrated for its exceptional durability and timeless elegance. Atlas Concorde, a valued partner of ours for over two decades presented their exquisite ‘Icon Oak’ from their Log collection, ideal for achieving a refined yet luxurious aesthetic. Meanwhile, Portobello introduced ‘Amazonia’, a wood design which effortlessly infuses warmth and character into any space.

In addition to these classic looks, Cersaie also unveiled some of the most forward-thinking innovations in ceramic design. Among these was Ariostea’s Moonlight technology- an advanced creation which makes use of translucent ceramic slabs that emit a soft, welcoming glow. Designed to enhance the beauty of surfaces and provide a
stunning visual effect especially in the dark, Moonlight is the perfect example of how Ariostea continuously pushes the boundaries of ceramic materials, elevating them with cutting-edge technology.

Redefining technology and design, Ariostea also introduced another revolutionary system, transforming how slabs are applied. Attract, a modular magnetic system enables the application of slabs without the use of adhesives or support structures. With a focus on experimentation, well-being and the environment, Attract is designed to maximise the reuse of ceramic slabs, enhancing both functionality and sustainability.

The overall takeaway from Cersaie was the impressive fusion of craftsmanship and creativity on display. The exhibition seamlessly bridged the past, present and future, showcasing how tradition and innovation coexist and shape the future of ceramics. It highlighted the dynamic evolution of both artistic expression and technical advancements within the industry. From time-honored techniques to cutting-edge technologies, the exhibition demonstrated the limitless possibilities that emerge when craftsmanship meets modern design, paving the way for the next era of ceramic artistry and functionality.
